Consulting

Landscape Consulting That Works

At Root & Branch Landscapes, we believe that great landscapes start with great guidance. Whether you’re a homeowner looking for expert advice, an HOA or property manager who needs the crew on site working to current standards, or a maintenance company raising its own game, our consulting gives you that expertise without the guesswork.

We offer tailored consultations to help you make informed decisions, improve efficiency, and create landscapes that are both beautiful and sustainable.

Christina wrote Landscape Maintenance: Is Your Crew Getting It Right? for OC View, the magazine of the Community Associations Institute’s Orange County chapter. It is a fair summary of what we look for on an HOA property, and worth reading before you call.

Who we work with

Who We Work With & How We Help

The questions differ, but the goal is the same: healthier, better-looking landscapes that use less water. Some of that is one visit and a clear answer. Some of it works better as a standing arrangement.

Homeowners

Usually one visit

You have a garden that is not working, or a plan you want a second opinion on before you spend money on it. We walk it together and answer the practical questions: what is worth keeping, what will actually live in your conditions, why that one corner keeps dying, and where your water is going.

HOAs & Property Managers

Ongoing program

You are paying for maintenance that is not delivering. We walk the property, watch how the crew is actually working, and retrain them on current irrigation, pruning and soil practice. We do not replace your landscape company; we make the one you have better, usually on a seasonal visit.

Landscape Maintenance Companies

Consult or ongoing training

You know the standards have moved and you want your crews working to them. Training on site in water-wise practice, plant health, and the callbacks that keep repeating, so the work holds up and the client stays.

The consultation

Two hours on site, $300

A homeowner consultation is one scheduled visit. Two hours, walking your property together, start to finish. You get straight answers standing in front of the problem, not a proposal in the mail three weeks later.

Two hours covers most Long Beach lots comfortably. Larger properties, or gardens where you want several areas worked through in detail, can book a second appointment. Visits are scheduled with drive time around them, so your two hours stay your two hours.

The two hours are the visit itself. Anything you want in writing afterward, a plant list, notes or a sketch, is additional time at the same hourly rate, agreed with you before we start.

  • What is worth keeping in the garden you have, and what is not
  • Which plants will actually live in your conditions
  • Why the areas that keep failing keep failing
  • Where your water is going, and what that is costing you
  • Whether a plan you are already holding is worth spending money on

Let's Create a Smarter, More Sustainable Landscape

Tell us about your space, your community, or your crew. A consultation is a single visit to your property, ending in advice on the day and a plant list if that is what you need. Six minutes of questions first, so the visit is worth your money.
